Carmen Estate is an award winning family farm in the Volcan Baru region at 1,700 - 1,750m of altitude. It was founded by Efrain and Carmen Franceschi. It is now run by their son, Carlos Aguilera Francheschi and his family. The farm's top lots consistently place highly in the annual 'Best of Panama' competition and took first place in 2008.
What is 100% CATURRA?
The Caturra variety is a naturally occurring selection of the Bourbon variety. It was discovered on a plantation in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The name Caturra comes from the Guarani word meaning "small." It was identified and selectively bred due to its compact size, and good yield. It is being phased out in recent years due to its susceptibility to Roya (leaf rust).
